Files
This is your P2P file library
Files holds the files you personally have. They are content-addressed: the same content always gets the same address, so whoever receives it can verify it was not altered.
Unless you explicitly share a file, it never leaves this device — there is no "upload to a server" step anywhere in Poter.
Import files
Upload— pick files from this machine.Import from link— paste a share link or content address someone gave you.- Files you save from chat land here too, usually under a folder named after the conversation.
If the other person's node is offline, the import shows "waiting for peer to come online…" and continues once they appear.
Organize
Create folders, switch between grid and list views, search, and add descriptions to files.
Deleting moves an item to the recycle bin; deleting it again from there is permanent and cannot be undone.
Preview and playback
Common video, audio, image, PDF and code files open directly inside Poter — no need to export first.
- Video/audio: space to play or pause,
Mto mute,Ffor fullscreen,←→to seek 10 seconds, plus subtitles and picture-in-picture. - Images: zoomable, and can be opened as a slideshow.
Extracting archives
Archives can be extracted in-app. Known unsupported formats: 7z (needs an extra native library), rar (proprietary) and xz. Use your system tools for those.
